Internet browser Opera announced that, after launching a cryptocurrency-enabled browser for Android, they will soon launch one for iPhone. News reports stated that the newly launched browser will be called Opera Touch and it will enable you to browser a decentralized web that is commonly referred to as Web 3.0.The official press release said, “Opera Touch for iOS will combine easy-to-use Crypto Wallet functionality with support for Ethereum decentralized apps, or Dapps. In December 2018, Opera introduced the Crypto Wallet to the Opera browser for Android. Introducing Web 3 functionalities to our iOS browser marks a further step in Opera’s plan to remove hurdles preventing mainstream Web 3 adoption.”The reason provided by the browser was that they had observed that users had to install a separate wallet apps which did not include full featured browsers. The statement further said, “Setting up such wallets was difficult and browsing the Web with a wallet app is burdensome. We removed this hurdle by integrating an easy-to-use wallet into our Android browser.
Now, we are delivering this seamless experience to iOS users.”Earlier this month, Crypto-News India had reported that Opera browser had introduced a new feature to its Android version app that lets users purchase Ethereum through the browser. The new service was only offered to residents of Sweden, Norway and Denmark as the services are offered through brokerage firm Safello.Explaining this development, Frank Schuil, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Safello had said, “With Safello brokerage on the Opera mobile browser for Android, both new and experienced users can now easily transact cryptocurrencies in the most secure and fastest way possible. The functionality to purchase crypto is right at their fingertips.”Charles Hamel, Product Lead for Crypto at Opera, commented on the company’s long term vision saying, “We think that the next important phase for crypto will come from usage and that for it to reach wider adoption, it has to be easy to buy and easy to use. We believe that the browser will be the entry point for these use cases. Thanks to our partnership with Safello, we are taking one more step towards this vision.”Liked what you read?
